My First Song: We Believe

First song I wrote as a Christian at 22 – four months after I first received Christ featuring 2Cor.5:17 which was the first verse I ever memorised. I had recently released a softer and milder version of it but felt I should work on another version that more truly reflects how it was played by my band Cross Culture on several occasions the most memorable of which was the Malaysian Christian Music Festival (with the Malaysian Methodist Bishop Rev Dr Denis C Dutton as Guest-of-Honour) held at the Wisma MCA (KL) back in the 90s – organised by Klang Wesley Methodist Church. We were the only band from Singapore that participated in the event but we weren’t the only band that played Christian rock – there was the Tamil Methodist Church band that played a couple of Whiteheart songs.
This extended slow rock version begins with a long 1 min 52 sec piano solo (with a hint of the keyboard intro in the background), followed by the signature keyboard intro, the main song which tells the story of my journey to faith, and then finishing off with a 3 min 30 sec hard rock instrumental section featuring some stirring lead guitar solos turning the song into a 9 min 42 second piece! This is my anthem.
